Peter Pan Stakes (G2) winner Casino Drive is entered in an optional claiming race on Sunday at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita Park that could serve as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).

The Japanese-based Mineshaft colt drew post two in a field of seven for the 1 1/16-mile event, carded as the eighth race.

Casino Drive, who will be ridden in the optional claiming race by Victor Espinoza, has not raced since his 5 3/4-length victory in the Peter Pan on May 10 at Belmont Park in his second career start. He was scratched from the Belmont Stakes (G1) on June 7 after developing a stone bruise on his left hind foot.

Trainer Kazuo Fujisawa sent the half brother to Belmont winners Jazil and Rags to Riches back to Japan and shipped him to Hollywood Park on October 1. He breezed five furlongs in 1:02 on Thursday at Hollywood.

“We’re very happy with it,” said Nobutaka Tada, racing manager for owner Hidetoshi Yamamoto. “I spoke with Mr. Yamamoto in Japan, and we decided to enter the allowance race on Sunday.”
