Court Vision possible for Breeders’ Cup Turf

Jamaica Handicap (G2) winner Court Vision is under consideration for the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) after initially being pointed to the Hollywood Derby (G1) on November 30.

“We’re tinkering with the idea of running in the Breeders’ Cup and still being able to run him in the Hollywood Derby,” said Mike Sherack, vice president of investor relations for IEAH Stables, which owns Court Vision in partnership with WinStar Farm.

Court Vision scored his first victory on turf in the Jamaica on October 4 at Belmont Park for Racing Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott. He finished second by a nose to Gio Ponti in the Virginia Derby (G2) on July 19 at Colonial Downs.

IEAH’s other Breeders’ Cup candidates are Big Brown in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), defending winner Kip Deville in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1), Pure Clan in the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1), and possibly Frost Giant in the Breeders’ Cup Marathon.

Sherack said Frost Giant, the Suburban Handicap (G1) winner, might be shipped from New York to Santa Anita Park ahead of Big Brown and Kip Deville, who are scheduled for a flight on October 21.

“[Frost Giant] can be very hot and temperamental,” Sherack said. “If he goes, he might go separate so he doesn’t mess everybody else up on the plane.”
