Cloverleaf Farm II’s homebred Bsharpsonata will try to add a stakes victory at Pimlico Race Course to her resume on Friday when she headlines a field of nine three-year-old fillies in the $200,000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2).
The Pulpit filly is easily the most accomplished runner in the Black-Eyed Susan, having won stakes races at Gulfstream Park, Laurel Race Course, Calder Race Course, and Delaware Park.
Second by a neck to Little Belle in the Ashland Stakes (G1) at Keeneland Race Course on April 5, she comes to Pimlico off a fifth-place finish to Proud Spell in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) run on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs on May 2.
Zayat Stable’s New York-bred Sherine has raced exclusively in her home state until now, most recently capturing the Comely Stakes (G2) on April 12 at Aqueduct. The Precise End filly attracted attention as a juvenile when she won an Aqueduct allowance race by 11 ¼ lengths and parlayed that into a 3 ¾-length victory in the East View Stakes.
Denholtz Stable’s She’s All Eltish made her stakes debut on March 29 at Gulfstream, winning the Bonnie Miss Stakes (G2) by 6 ¾ lengths. She was fourth in the Calder Oaks on April 26, finishing 4 ¼ lengths behind winner Ginger Brew.
She’s All Eltish is the only Black-Eyed Susan entrant with a victory at the 1 1/8-mile distance.
