Somethinaboutlaura, a winner of 14 stakes races and earner of $1,129,365, has been retired and booked to Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms stallion Stormy Atlantic.

Hill ‘n’ Dale principal John G. Sikura raced the six-year-old Dance Floor mare out of Crystals of Ice, by It’s Freezing, in partnership with trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, Charles Miller, and George Todaro.

Somethinaboutlaura won consecutive editions of the A Gleam Invitational Handicap (G2) at Hollywood Park, prevailing over the old dirt surface in 2006 and on the newly installed Cushion Track surface in ’07.

The California-bred mare also scored four stakes wins on turf.

Somethinaboutlaura began her 2008 season with a victory in the Campanile Stakes on the Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields and finished third in the Santa Maria Handicap (G1) on Santa Anita Park’s synthetic surface before concluding her career with a second place finish in the Foster City Handicap on March 1 on the Bay Meadows main track.

Bred by Lilley Ranch, Somethinaboutlaura began her career with a last-place finish in a $40,000 maiden claiming race in August 2004 at Del Mar. She ended up winning 18 of 34 career starts.

Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, agent, bought her for $375,000 from consignor Turf Express in the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale. She won 12 of 24 starts after joining Hollendorfer’s barn following that sale.
