Jockey Paucar earns 1,000th career win

Jockey Edgar Paucar piloted his 1,000th career winner on Wednesday in the eighth race at Beulah Park.

The Peruvian native’s milestone win came aboard 11-to-10 favorite Lil E’s Express, who drew clear to a two-length win in the six-furlong claiming race.

Paucar, 33, has amassed 120 wins at the Grove City, Ohio, track’s current meet. Since moving his tack to Ohio in fall 2004, Paucar has set modern-day win records at Beulah and has earned two leading riding titles at River Downs.

Paucar graduated from riding school in his native country and began his United States riding career in Massachusetts, where he competed at Suffolk Downs and Northampton Fair.
