DREAMING OF LIZ

Four Footed Fotos

Frank Calabrese’s homebred Dreaming of Liz led at every point of call en route to a 2 ½-length win in the $150,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Arlington Park for her first stakes win.

Sent off as the 3-to-2 favorite in a field of 11 two-year-old fillies, the El Prado (Ire) filly led by two lengths through a half-mile in the :46.45/ and by a  length after six furlongs in 1:11.52 and maintained that margin in early stretch. Dreaming of Liz increased her advantage under moderate urging by E. T. Baird in midstretch and drew clear for the win, completing one mile on the all-weather Polytrack surface in 1:37.08.

Stakes-placed winner Rasierra raced in second, a length behind Dreaming of Liz, entering the stretch, but could only chase her to the wire, finishing 2  ½ lengths clear of third-place finisher Minewander.

Trained by Wayne Catalano, Dreaming of Liz made her first start in a stakes race and entered off a seven-length romp in a six-furlong maiden special weight race on August 10 at Arlington. She finished fourth in her career debut on July 13 at Arlington.

Dreaming of Liz, who is out of Grade 1 winner Silver Maiden, by Silver Buck, increased her earnings to $104,880 with the win.
