Xchanger pulled away in the stretch and held off 7-to-10 favorite King of the Roxy to win the $300,600 Barbaro Stakes (G3) by a length at Delaware Park on Sunday.

Xchanger was well placed in third as pacesetter Phone Home completed the opening quarter in :23.50. The Exchange Rate colt overtook Phone Home after six furlongs under urging by jockey Edgar Prado. Xchanger led by 1 1/2 lengths in the stretch and drew clear under strong handling to hold off a challenge by King of the Roxy.

The three-year-old gray or roan colt completed 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.40 on a fast track.

King of the Roxy, who raced off the pace along the outside, finished 2 3/4 lengths in front of Phone Home, who held on for third.

Trained by Mark Shuman, who co-owns the winner with Circle Z Stable and Joseph Masone, Xchanger entered off an eighth-place finish in the nine-horse Preakness Stakes (G1) on May 19 at Pimlico Race Course.

Prior to that start, Xchanger won the Federico Tesio Stakes on April 21 at Pimlico. Last September, Xchanger posted a three-quarter-length victory in the Sapling Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park for his first graded stakes victory.

Out of the winning Crafty Prospector mare Saragoza, Xchanger improved to four wins in ten career starts to bankroll $471,990.
