Grade 1 winner Wild Fit dead

Wild Fit, the 2005 Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) winner and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) runner-up, died recently after a battle with colic, trainer Patrick Biancone said.

The four-year-old Wild Wonder filly out of Grannies Feather, by At Full Feather, finished fourth in the Chilukki Stakes (G2) on November 2 at Churchill Downs in her final race. She became sick this winter after joining Biancone’s division at Hollywood Park.

Wild Fit won the Del Mar Debutante in her second career start for trainer Jeff Mullins and owners Murray Smith and Brewer Racing Stable.

After finishing second to Diamond Omi in the Oak Leaf Stakes (G2) and second to Folklore in the Juvenile Fillies, Wild Fit sold for $3-million to Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith in the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November breeding stock sale.

Wild Fit did not win in six starts as a three-year-old for Biancone. She finished second in the Las Virgenes Stakes (G1) and third in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1).

Bred in Florida by Hannahill Farm Inc., Wild Fit won two of ten career starts and earned $555,079. She was a full sister to 2005 San Vicente Stakes winner Fusaichi Rock Star.
