Dreaming of Anna could contest Kentucky Oaks

Wayne Catalano was so impressed with Dreaming of Anna’s workout on Saturday that the trainer is considering a start for Frank Calabrese’s homebred Rahy filly in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) on May 4 at Churchill Downs off what would be 9 1/2 weeks rest.

“She’ll probably run [Kentucky] Derby (G1) week—maybe even in the Oaks,” Catalano said Saturday afternoon from Keeneland Race Course, where Dreaming of Anna worked seven furlongs on the all-weather Polytrack surface in 1:25.20 handily.

“She’s working like a monster right now.”

Dreaming of Anna won all four starts last year en route to champion two-year-old filly honors, but she is winless in two starts this year.

She debuted this season on February 10 at Gulfstream Park in the Old Hat Stakes (G3) and finished third, beaten 6 3/4 lengths, in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint. She returned 15 days later to finish second to Audacious Chloe in the Gaily Gaily Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

Dreaming of Anna has not raced since but returned to the worktab on April 14 at Keeneland, breezing five furlongs in 1:01.
