Discreet Cat will remain in Dubai while he recovers from a throat abscess and the four-year-old Forestry colt will not return to racing until the second half of the year, Godolphin Racing Manager Simon Crisford said on Wednesday.
The Grade 1 winner, whose unbeaten streak ended when he finished last of seven in the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) on March 31 at Nad al Sheba racecourse, was due to ship to the United States this month in preparation for a start in the one-mile Metropolitan Handicap (G1) on May 28 at Belmont Park.
Crisford said plans are to ship Discreet Cat to the United States sometime in May.
"He is still having treatment and making a slow recovery," Crisford said. "We will have to delay his return to the United States and he will stay in Dubai until we can sort this out.
"We were considering the Met Mile at the end of May, but that is out of the way now. We won't consider targets until we get him back into training."
