Unbeaten three-year-old filly La Traviata has been pre-entered in both the TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, trainer Patrick Biancone said on Monday.
The Sprint is the first preference for the Johannesburg filly, who would take on males after dominating the Victory Ride Stakes (G3) on August 25 at Saratoga Race Course in her stakes debut. She won her two previous starts by a combined 18 lengths.
La Traviata is scheduled for a Tuesday workout at Keeneland Race Course.
“She’s doing very, very well,” Biancone said.
Biancone also pre-entered Ballerina Stakes (G1) runner-up Baroness Thatcher, another Johannesburg filly, in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.
Biancone’s other pre-entries are Spinaway Stakes (G1) winner Irish Smoke in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (G1) runner-up Cosmonaut in the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1), Lane’s End Breeders’ Futurity (G1) runner-up Slew’s Tiznow in the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), and Kentucky Cup Distaff Stakes (G3) winner Danzon in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).
