Clouston saddles 1,000th career winner
Trainer Edward Clouston earned his 1,000th career victory on Tuesday at Mountaineer Race Track when Unsung Angels rallied to a 2 3/4-length win in the seventh race.
Since 1985, Clouston’s horses have compiled $5,905,472 in purse earnings while also amassing 913 runner-up and 943 third-place finishes.
The trainer earned his lone career stakes win when he saddled Salish Prince to victory in the $30,000 Wadsworth Memorial Handicap at Finger Lakes in 2000.
Clouston has earned four wins in 27 starts at Mountaineer through Wednesday.
