La Brea Stakes (G1) winner Downthedustyroad was returned to trainer Bob Baffert’s care on Tuesday, five days after she was sold for $1.5-million in the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale.
Tim McMurry of Fleetwood Bloodstock signed the ticket for the Storm and a Half filly on behalf of a client whom he declined to identify on Wednesday.
Previously owned by Ahmed Zayat, Downthedustyroad scored her first stakes win in the La Brea on December 30 at Santa Anita Park.
McMurry said Wednesday that Downthedustyroad would be considered for the Santa Monica Handicap (G1) on January 28 at Santa Anita, provided she did not miss too much training while in Kentucky for the sale.
Baffert also trains Santa Monica candidate Pussycat Doll. He won the seven-furlong race last year with Behaving Badly.
