Godolphin Mile winner Spring At Last returns

Etisalat Godolphin Mile (UAE-G2) winner Spring At Last returned from a layoff of more than eight months with a 1 1/2-length score under jockey Victor Espinoza in an allowance race on Wednesday at Santa Anita Park.

Trained by Doug O’Neill for owners J. Paul Reddam and WinStar Farm, the four-year-old Silver Deputy colt stalked the pace and drew clear in deep stretch to prevail in his first start since winning the Godolphin Mile on March 31 at Nad al Sheba racecourse.

Grade 1-placed Spring At Last completed one mile on firm turf in 1:35.84.

He improved to four wins in 11 career starts and boosted his earnings to $837,650.

Bred in Kentucky by WinStar, Spring At Last is a half brother to Grade 1 winner Sharp Lisa and Grade 2 winner Sharp Susan. He is one of five winners from as many starters out of the unplaced Dynaformer mare Winter’s Gone, a half sister to four-time Grade 1 winner and sire Bien Bien and multiple Grade 3 winner and sire Dr. Schwartzman.
