Acorn Stakes (G1) winner Cottom Blossom came out of her tenth-place finish in the Darley Test Stakes (G1) on August 4 with lameness in her right front ankle.

Preliminary examinations indicated that the Broken Vow filly wrenched a minor sesamoidial ligament, according to Dogwood Stable President Cot Campbell.

“Dr. Steve Allday [D.V.M.] feels this is a temporary setback—with the filly possibly being a shock wave therapy candidate—and we are tentatively scheduling her next appearance at Belmont [Park] this fall,” Campbell said. “We hope this setback is minor, and we are tentatively planning to race Cotton Blossom this fall and throughout 2008.”

Cotton Blossom won the Acorn by one length over Dream Rush, who has since collected victories in the Prioress Stakes (G1) and the Test.

Cotton Blossom, a Grade 3 winner at Saratoga last July, has won four of 11 career starts and earned $724,987.
