Undefeated three-year-old filly Magnificience will miss the rest of the year due to a bone chip in her left front ankle.
Trainer Bruce Headley told Daily Racing Form that the chip will be removed next week and he believes the chestnut Stormy Atlantic filly will be able to return to racing next season. He plans to give her at least six months of rest following the procedure.
"It was so slight," Headley told the Form. "Racehorses can be great horses after having a chip removed.
“She’s a brilliant filly, and the best is yet to come.”
Magnificience debuted with a 6 1/2-length romp in a maiden special weight race at Santa Anita Park on March 11 and followed with a resounding five-length score in the Santa Paula Stakes (G3) on April 1 in her stakes debut.
