West Virginia Derby winner Real Dandy among ten for Super Derby

Real Dandy, who scored his first stakes win in the $750,000 West Virginia Derby (G3) on August 14, will aim for another lucrative victory on Saturday in the $750,000 Super Derby (G2) at Louisiana Downs.

The son of Yankee Victor prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths in the 1 1/8-mile West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Race Track. The bay colt enters the $750,000 Super Derby (G2) at Lousiana Downs on Saturday off a fifth-place finish in the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) on September 5 at Philadelphia Park.

Real Dandy drew the rail for the 1 1/4-mile Super Derby, which received a purse increase from $500,000 after last year's edition. He is the only graded stakes winner in the field of ten.

Royal Saint will come into the race off four consecutive victories, all over the Louisiana Downs main track, including the Prelude Stakes on September 5 in his stakes debut.

The Daddy will make stretch out to two turns for the first time after finishing fourth in the seven-furlong King's Bishop Stakes (G1) on August 27 at Saratoga Race Course.

Smokescreen exits a third-place finish in the Pennsylvania Derby.
