Undefeated two-year-old In Summation unlikely for Breeders' Cup
Undefeated multiple stakes winner In Summation will most likely skip the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) on October 29 at Belmont Park, trainer Frank Gomez said on Wednesday. The Florida-bred son of Put It Back is scheduled to start next in the In Reality division of the Florida Stallion Stakes on October 15 at Calder Race Course. Gomez said he would not wheel the colt back 14 days later in the Juvenile.
"It's too close," Gomez said. "The race down here down here is $400,000 and probably will be a lot easier than the Breeders' Cup. This is his home court. He's got plenty of time next year if he's that good."
In Summation will seek a sweep of the three-race Florida Stallion Stakes series when he stretches out and tries two turns for the first time in the 1 1/16-mile In Reality division.
"I think he'll go two turns," Gomez said. "Just the way he's been running, he looks like he will. He's always finished strong."
Owned by Waterford Farm, In Summation has collected four stakes wins, including the Dr. Fager and Affirmed divisions of the series this summer, in five career starts and earnings of $205,800.—Jeff Lowe
