Canadian champion Added Edge retired

Team Valor Stables and Robert Wilson have retired Added Edge, Canada's champion two-year-old male of 2002 and winner of the '05 Razorback Breeders' Cup Handicap (G3) in his most recent start. No stud plans have been announced for the five-year-old son of Smart Strike out of Sweet Nostalgia, by Mr. Redoy. Added Edge won each of his four starts as a juvenile, including the Nashua Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct, to earn championship honors.

"When he was favored over Funny Cide for the Holy Bull [Stakes (G3)] in his debut at three, he chipped both knees," Team Valor President Barry Irwin said of his 2003 debut when he finished last as the 9-to-5 favorite. "We always considered him the gamest runner in our barn to come back and win stakes after those injuries."

Added Edge won the 2004 Governor's Handicap at Ellis Park and Michael G. Schaefer Mile Stakes at Hoosier Park before taking the Razorback by a neck on March 13 at Oaklawn Park in his final start.

Bred in Kentucky by Gulf Cost Farms Bloodstock, Added Edge won eight of 19 career starts and earned $552,326.
