Estate Collection leads the way in Kentucky Cup Sprint

Estate Collection won his third race in as many career starts and his first in a stakes when he zipped to victory in the $100,000 Kentucky Cup Sprint Stakes (G3) at Turfway Park on Saturday afternoon.

With Patrick Valenzuela in the reins, Estate Collection bounded to the lead and drilled the opening quarter-mile in :22.18 and a half-mile in :45.69, as stakes winner Humor at Last pressed the pace.

Making a move four wide, Humor at Last attempted to catch Estate Collection but to no avail as the three-year-old Souvenir Copy gelding posted a three-quarter-length score in 1:09.75, the fastest time yet for the distance on Turfway's new Polytrack surface. Going Wild, who started in Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) and was unplaced both, finished another 3¾ lengths back in third in the seven-horse field.

Unraced as a two-year-old, Estate Collection carries the colors of owner Suarez Racing Inc. and is trained by Doug O'Neill. He has earned $95,600 this year.

Bred in Kentucky by Mrs. John Mabee, Estate Collection is out of Mother's Meeting, by General Meeting.
