Silverbulletday returns on Wednesday
Mike Pegram's multiple champion Silverbulletday makes her four-year-old debut in an interesting and tricky spot on Wednesday when she takes on four others in the 1 1/16-mile Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland Race Course.
The Silver Deputy filly, champion two-year-old filly of 1998 and champion three-year-old filly last year, will be making her first start for Pegram and trainer Bob Baffert since finishing sixth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) last November at Gulfstream Park. She sports a 14-for-18 lifetime record but dropped her final two starts—both outside her division--last year.
Wednesday's race does not promise to be easy. Breaking to her outside from post position three is Keeper Hill, who won last year's Three Chimneys Spinster Stakes at Keeneland. The five-year-old Deputy Minister mare is just 4-for-20 lifetime, but three of those victories have come in Grade 1 stakes.
The field also includes 1998 Honeybee Stakes (G3) winner Roza Robata and regional stakes winners Pepita Ramoje and French Braids.
