This year’s Oak Tree Racing Association meeting features a new location (Hollywood Park) and a new announcer (Vic Stauffer), but television viewers will still find the races on Betfair Ltd.’s Television Games Network.
TVG announced Thursday that it will serve as the exclusive television partner of the upcoming Oak Tree at Hollywood Park meeting, which features several top races that serve as preps for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. The Oak Tree meet, which starts on September 30 and concludes on October 31, will be contested at Hollywood Park for the first time following a run at Santa Anita from 1969 through 2009.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Oak Tree as it embarks on this next stage in its historic position on the racing calendar,” TVG Chief Executive Officer Stephen Burn said. “With Zenyatta saying goodbye to her California followers, and the meet featuring eight Breeders’ Cup Challenge races, we are confident racing fans are in for a special treat. It is our privilege to be the only TV outlet delivering all the action as it unfolds.”
Unbeaten two-time champion Zenyatta is expected to start in the $250,000 Lady’s Secret Stakes Presented by TVG (G1) as a final prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs.
“Oak Tree is very pleased to be teaming with TVG,” Oak Tree Racing Association Executive Vice President Sherwood Chillingworth said. “Their sponsorship of our two premier Grade I races, [the] Lady’s Secret Stakes and Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship, is very much appreciated. When Oak Tree racing fans can’t make it out to the track at Hollywood Park, they’ll be in good hands via TVG’s excellent broadcast coverage of our races.”
Both TVG and HorseRacing TV carried the Oak Tree meeting last year at Santa Anita.
