Ticket sales for 2010 Breeders’ Cup ahead of last year’s pace

Heading into the Labor Day weekend, the Breeders’ Cup has enjoyed a significant increase in ticket revenue compared with last year’s comparable figures.
Breeders’ Cup and Churchill Downs sold $7.2-million in reserved seating for the two-day event, compared with $3.7-million last year when the World Championships were held at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita Park.
“With its loyal fan base for racing, our home state of Kentucky is traditionally one of the strongest markets for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships,” said Greg Avioli, Breeders’ Cup’s president and chief executive officer. “That interest combined with the broad range of choices at a state-of-the-art racing facility and the possibility of a truly historic Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) has produced the strongest pre-event sales in Breeders’ Cup history.”
Strong local interest, Churchill Downs’ capacity, and the possibility of Zenyatta running in the Classic all contributed to the improved sales, Breeders’ Cup officials said in a press release.

How exciting that the strong sales for reserve seating at Churchill is due to Zenyatta running in the Classic, what else did they think was going to happen, everyone want's to see Zenyatta perform, the folks back East are very lucky to get to see Zenyatta's last race and retire 20-0 and undefeated. Just Awesome !!!!!
