Gulfstream Park to add lights next season
Posted: Thursday, September 02, 2010 7:25 PM
The new owner of Gulfstream Park said it will install lights at the South Florida track next season.
The Daily Racing Form reports that MI Developments Inc. Chief Executive Officer Dennis Mills said the company will install lights at the track in time for this year’s meeting. While Florida law does not allow Thoroughbred tracks to race at night, Mills is confident the law can be changed.
Mills cited the success Churchill Downs has enjoyed with night racing on select evenings the past two years.
This year, MI Developments took over Gulfstream Park as part of the bankruptcy of its former subsidiary, Magna Entertainment Corp. Both companies are controlled by prominent Thoroughbred owner and breeder Frank Stronach.

The greed never stops. They tore down a Classic Ractrack and built a Gambling / Shopping Mall. What's next; are they going to have guys there, who on your way back to your car, pick you up by your ankles and shake the last dime out of your pockets. Seems like thats what they are trying to do. Glad I don't live near that facility or Hallandale Beach [Bacteria Beach].
