Disco Night to kick off Downs after Dark cards

With permanent lighting in place this year, Churchill Downs will host its first night card of the year on June 11.

The “Downs After Dark” event on June 11 will be the first of four night cards during the spring-summer meeting, and will be followed by night cards each Friday through July 2. In the fall, Churchill will offer two additional night cards.

Each of this year’s spring/summer events will feature themes. Disco Night will take center stage on June 11. Following that theme will be South Beach on June 18, Dress to Impress on June 25, and country/Americana night on July 2.

Post time for the night cards this summer is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT

In the fall, the theme nights will include “Spirits and Spires” on Sunday, October 31, and “Home for the Holidays” on Friday, November 19. Post time for the fall cards is 2:30 p.m. EST.
 
Downs After Dark attracted an average of nearly 30,000 fans during its three-date run in 2009.
