PNC Bank sues Allen Paulson Trust

PNC Bank has filed a claim against the Allen E. Paulson Living Trust for almost $1.6-million and wants to seize Horse of the Year Azeri's yearling filly by Ghostzapper, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

PNC alleged in a lawsuit filed in Fayette Circuit Court in Lexington on February 12 that the Paulson Trust defaulted on a loan that originally was a $7.5-million revolving line of credit from National City Bank, which was acquired by PNC in late 2008.

The Ghostzapper filly is included in the loan’s collateral. Her half brother by A.P. Indy, Take Control, won his career debut at Santa Anita Park on December 30. He is a Triple Crown nominee but had to take some time off because of sore shins.

Previously, Take Control was bought back by the Paulson Trust for a record $7.7-million at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale. He subsequently sold for $1.9-million to Kaleem Shah at the ’09 Keeneland April sale of selected two-year-olds in training.

The Ghostzapper filly was entered in the 2010 Keeneland January horses of all ages sale but was pulled out.

Azeri sold to Japan’s Katsumi Yoshida for $2.25-million at the 2009 Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
