THOROUGHBRED TIMES profiles racing’s future leaders in ‘40 Under 40’

Posted: Thursday, June 24, 2010 4:45 PM

The Thoroughbred industry’s next generation of leaders are profiled in the inaugural THOROUGHBRED TIMES “40 Under 40” feature that appears in the June 26 issue of the weekly industry magazine.

The inaugural class for the feature was determined by a vote of the TIMES editors and writers after a widespread polling of industry participants yielded nearly 100 nominations. The group represents all segments of racing, from the boardrooms and stable areas of the racetracks, to the sales ring, to the farms, and everywhere in between.

The individuals were asked a series of questions and the detailed survey produced a variety of answers. The group features 18 residents of Kentucky, including 14 from Lexington and surrounding communities, along with six from New York and four from California.

"Strange....but it appears as if the majority of your picks are the offspring of your advertising contributors." Sharon, Lexington, KY

Sharon, I totally agree with your statement and it is so very obvious. We can chalk it up to a sign of the economic times as an advertising campaign.

wow...there are a lot of complainers and whiners out there....I thought the list was fine. Absolutely fine. These people work hard and deserve the recognition. Of course there are many many more under 40 year olds who influence racing in a tremendous way, however the list called for 40 not 400. Personally I think it was very interesting the ones chosen. I had no idea there was an under 40 year old woman managing a race track. That my friends is an accomplishment regardless if they are TT advertisers. And to the whiner who said there were no race callers OBVIOUSLY he did not read the list; does Travis Stone not call races? Anyway, thank you T Times for enlightening the readers who appreciate the list you submitted.
