Newberry supported by horsemen

Posted: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 11:46 AM

Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry is being honored at a reception at Greg Goodman’s Mt. Brilliant Farm on Huffman Mill Pike in Lexington on Thursday. It is part of a fund-raiser for Newberry, who is up for re-election in November. A number of Thoroughbred industry participants are supporting his candidacy and will be in attendance, including former Kentucky Governor and Airdrie Stud owner Brereton Jones, WinStar co-owner Bill Casner, Cobra Farm owner Gary Biszantz, and Pin Oak Stud owner Josephine Abercrombie.

Those wishing to attend or need more information should contact Matt Tompkins at Tompkins@mayornewberry2010.com or (859) 226-0194.

A potentially misleading headline indeed. The small handful of horsemen noted in this article is hardly the entire industry. I am confident that Newberry's opponent, Vice Mayor Jim Gray is also supported by an equal if not larger group of Central Kentucky horsemen.

Great reception...and GRET to 'name [those] names of supporters.

MUST continue to work to retain the moniker "Horse Capitol of the World"...
