Greely joins Hoosier Park as racing secretary

Posted: Friday, January 29, 2010 6:02 PM

Former Arlington Park Racing Secretary Kevin Greely has joined Hoosier Park as the track’s Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing secretary.

Greely served as vice president of racing and racing secretary at Arlington Park for the past four years and currently is the assistant racing secretary at Gulfstream Park.

The Anderson, Indiana, track’s 63-day Thoroughbred meeting opens on July 30 and runs through October 24.

“I’m very excited to join the racing staff at Hoosier Park,” Greely said. “I’m looking forward to the new challenge. It is also refreshing to hear that Hoosier Park is looking to improve the quality of racing, and I’m pleased to be involved in that process.”

A Lexington native, Greely served as racing secretary for just over 11 years for the Emirates Racing Association/Dubai Racing Club in Dubai. He oversaw the racing programs for five race courses in the United Arab Emirates and served on the Dubai World Cup committee, which organized the entire program for the Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) and its supporting races.

Greely also was clerk of the course of Nad al Sheba racecourse. He served in various official positions at tracks such as Churchill Downs, Fair Grounds, Keeneland, Ellis Park, and Turfway Park prior to his move to Dubai in 1994.
