The third annual Bourbon County Secretariat Festival honoring the 1973 Triple Crown winner and two-time Horse of the Year will take place October 2 at the Bourbon County Fair Grounds in Paris, Kentucky.
This year’s festival will feature appearances by Racing Hall of Fame riders Ron Turcotte and Eddie Maple, each of whom rode Secretariat during his career, as well as Meadow Farm exercise rider Charlie Davis.
Also, actor Otto Thorwart, who portrays Turcotte in the upcoming Disney motion picture Secretariat, will make a special appearance.
“Happily, the Bourbon Country Secretariat Festival has grown into a fall tradition for Central Kentucky,” said Secretariat’s owner and breeder Penny Chenery. “With the nearby World Equestrian Games taking place and the new Secretariat Disney film soon to be released, this year’s event in Paris will be a wonderful gathering for horse enthusiasts to enjoy.”
The festival will also include the Big Red 5K Foot Race/Walk, original artwork, autograph sessions, silent auctions, and several equine demonstrations. The Festival opens at 9 a.m. EDT, and admission is $10 per carload or $5 per person for adults, and free to children 12 and younger.
