Pin Oak Stud owner Josephine Abercrombie and actor Burt Reynolds will be honored at the eighth annual Equine Advocates’ Awards Dinner and Charity Auction on Thursday, August 6 at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The event, co-chaired by Julie Bonacio and 2008 honoree and equine surgeon Patricia Hogan, D.V.M., will feature special guest Carson Kressley of the Lifetime network program “How to Look Good Naked.”
Founded in 1996 by Susan Wagner, Equine Advocates serves as a non-profit equine protection and rescue organization in Chatham, New York.
Reynolds, a film veteran and equine protection advocate, will receive the 2009 Safe Home Equine Protection Award. In his 50-year career, Reynolds received several award nominations and an Emmy Award for his performance in the television series “Evening Shade.” Last year, Hogan received the award for her work testifying in front of Congress in support of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.
Abercrombie will accept the Ellen and Herbert Moelis Equine Savior Award for Philanthropy for her generosity and dedication to end horse slaughter. Virginia Kraft Payson, supporter of the Thoroughbred Charities of America, received the award last year.
General admission for the Equine Advocates' Dinner is $250 per ticket. The event begins at 6 p.m. EDT.
