National Museum of Racing opens preservation exhibit

“Preserving Our Past,” the National Museum of Racing’s newest exhibit, has opened at the Saratoga Springs, New York, museum and will run through December 31.

With paintings by Edward Troye, Henry Stull, and Martin Stainforth, the exhibit features portraits of owner and breeder James Ben Ali Haggin, Racing Hall of Fame jockey Frank “Dooley” Adams, and the Thoroughbreds Eclipse, Swaps, Reigh Count, and Iroquois.

The pieces in the collection, still in need of conservation work, are displayed with varying degrees of deterioration and damage. Visitors have the opportunity to donate money to help fund the required restoration. Each piece includes the estimated cost of work.
