Churchill reaches agreement with Ky. horsemen

Churchill Downs Inc. has reached an advance deposit wagering agreement with the Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association, the company said in a press release on Thursday.
The agreement is for Churchill Downs's spring-summer meeting, which begins April 25 and ends July 5.
"We are pleased to have reached a mutually acceptable solution with Kentucky horsemen on this issue," said Steve Sexton, president of the Louisville track.
Rick Hiles, president of the Kentucky HBPA, said that the agreement "will bring great benefits to our horsemen and will promote Kentucky racing throughout the country."
KTA President David Richardson agreed with Hiles’s assessment.
"We look forward to moving forward together in an effort to preserve and promote racing in Kentucky and at Churchill Downs," Richardson said.
Wagering on Churchill racing also will be available through TwinSpires.com beginning on opening day through end of the meet. Terms for distribution to other advance deposit wagering companies have not yet been finalized.
