A television advertisement that focused on the natural attraction of people to horses was recognized by industry leaders and fans on Thursday.
Attendees of the final session of this year’s Symposium on Racing and Gaming, presented by the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program in Tucson, Arizona, voted the ad the People’s Choice Award.
The ad for the Swedish Horse Racing Totalisator Board (ATG), showed horses hanging out in an urban environment, attracting attention from shoppers, people at an outdoor café, and others dressed up for a night on the town. The ad effectively asked people who typically enjoy other forms of entertainment to give racing a chance.
The ad also included humorous scenes where the horses playfully hide from people and one horse beats pursuers to a closing elevator. As people follow the horses through a shopping center, one horse leaps over a shopping cart—a moment that one attendee noted locked up his vote.
