Magna hearing moved to April 20

As anticipated, a Magna Entertainment Corp. bankruptcy hearing that will determine the policies on selling the company’s property has been postponed until April 20.

The hearing originally was scheduled for Friday but the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware granted Magna’s request to move the hearing to the later date.

At that hearing, the court will determine the procedures for potentially selling Magna properties that have been included in a $195-million stalking horse bid by Magna’s parent company MI Developments Inc. Some of the properties included in the bid are Golden Gate Fields, Gulfstream Park, the Lone Star Park lease, Palm Meadows Training Center, AmTote, and XpressBet.com.

The court also is expected to set parameters on the sale of Magna properties not included in the bid, which include the Maryland Jockey Club properties and Santa Anita Park, along with Portland Meadows, Remington Park, and Thistledown.

On April 3, the court granted Magna an additional $2.5-million as part of its debtor-in-possession financing facility from a subsidiary of MI Developments. The DIP loan initial tranche of up to $13.4-million was approved March 6. The court is expected to consider a final order of the DIP Loan up to an additional $46.6-million on April 20.
