Kentucky Downs experiences decline in handle
Kentucky Downs experienced a decline in average per-race handle compared with last year’s meeting.
The Franklin, Kentucky, track averaged $164,048.58 in handle per race for a total of $3,937,165.72 in total handle, a decline of 9.97% compared with last year’s meeting. Kentucky Downs conducted 24 live races, compared with 46 live races last year, because of inclement weather.
“The weather provided us with a challenge, but we had a lot of victories,” said Jon Goodman, Kentucky Downs’ general manager. “We had some of the finest horses in our history race here this year. Top horses like Cloudy’s Knight and Fort Prado exemplified the quality on display during the meeting."
