The Breeders’ Cup honored stable grooms at the World Championships on November 6-7 at Santa Anita Park, awarding a total of $7,000.
The prizes went to the groom of the best turned out horse after inspection in the post parade or in the paddock prior to a Breeders’ Cup race. The groom of the best turned out horse received a $500 prize in a special winner’s circle ceremony.
Rogelio Martinez, from Bill Mott’s stable, won twice, earning the award for Dynaforce in the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) and Courageous Cat in the TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile.
“The best turned out program recognizes the importance of the groom in helping to prepare a starter for a Breeders’ Cup World Championships race and their work in exhibiting the natural beauty and grace of the Thoroughbred,” said Pamela Blatz-Murff, Breeders’ Cup senior vice president of racing. “We are very pleased to honor their horsemanship during our event.”
