TVG to sponsor Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile

Posted: Friday, October 03, 2008 3:38 PM

Television Games Network will be the title sponsor for the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on October 25 at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita Park.

TVG has been a Breeders’ Cup marketing partner since 1999, and sponsored the Breeders’ Cup Sprint from 2005-’07. The 25th Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held on October 24-25 and include 14 races worth a combined $25.5-million in purses.

"TVG has been an outstanding partner of the Breeders’ Cup for the past ten years and a leader in televised racing and account wagering," said Greg Avioli, Breeders’ Cup president and chief executive officer. "We look forward to continuing our relationship and helping to increase the growth of the Breeders’ Cup in the U.S. and overseas."

Under terms of the agreement, TVG also will produce the Breeders’ Cup simulcast show, a live broadcast of the two-day event that is distributed to more than 2,000 off-track and simulcast wagering outlets worldwide. TVG also will produce “The Works,” a weeklong series that covers morning workouts of Breeders’ Cup contenders at racetracks throughout the country.

“As the sponsor of this year’s Dirt Mile, we look forward to sharing this great race with fans around the globe,” said David Nathanson, TVG’s president. “TVG is committed to horse racing, horseplayers, and our continued support of the Breeders’ Cup.”
