Big Brown’s owner says colt will not race at four

by Ed DeRosa

Michael Iavarone, co-President of International Equine Acquisition Holdings that co-owns Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Big Brown, said the colt has no chance of racing as a four-year-old.

Speaking at the Preakness Stakes (G1) post position draw on Wednesday night at ESPNZone in Baltimore, Iavarone said IEAH would announce a syndication deal on Thursday.

Iavarone would not say who will stand the undefeated Boundary colt, but he did say it would not be Darley.

If Big Brown does not win the Preakness, Iavarone said it is unlikely he will go on to the Belmont Stakes (G1) on June 7 at Belmont Park.
