Churchill Downs on Friday launched the official websites for the 2008 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1), www.kentuckyderby.com, and the ’08 Kentucky Oaks (G1), www.kentuckyoaks.com.
The 134th running of the Kentucky Oaks for three-year-old fillies will take place on May 2 at the historic Louisville track. The Derby, the first leg of the Triple Crown for three-year-olds, will be run one day later.
New site features include an enhanced widescreen video option that provides visitors with an opportunity to view free replays of prep races and workouts. The sites will also include exclusive analysis videos and interviews.
“Derby Total Access,” a suite of interactive online tools that links visitors to Derby content available through YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, and other online resources, is also a new addition to the site. The focal point of both sites is the contenders pages, which includes videos, photographs, pedigree analysis, workout information, and past performances.
“Both the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks websites will continue to serve as complete online resources for racing fans in 2008,” said Jeremy Borseth, senior director of channel services and Internet operations for Churchill Downs Inc. “With the incorporation of the latest in web technology and online features, these sites provide a wide variety of in-depth and interactive information, presented in a user-friendly format that visitors of any sophistication can navigate and enjoy. When combined with the rich tradition, multimedia areas and historical features also available on the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks sites, these web pages provide a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for all of our racing fans.”
