Keeneland wins second simulcast award

Keeneland Race Course won its second simulcast award on Tuesday at the International Simulcast Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida. Keeneland also won the award in 2003.

The award lauds the best presentation of a track’s live product to simulcast outlets. Keeneland’s winning entry was its presentation of the Commonwealth Stakes (G2) on April 2.

The entry included pre-race features, odds, will-pays, commentary, the race, results, and post-race features.

The panel of judges included Equidaily.com publisher Seth Merrow, pari-mutuel racing consumer John Swetye, freelance writer Steve Viuker, Las-Vegas Review Journal columnist and handicapper Richard Eng, and a committee of University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program students.

The judged pointed to Keeneland’s use of the Trackus technology during the race, which displaces the in-race running order with odds, changes shown on a scroll, and a fast post-race playoff display.
