HRRN to broadcast Breeders’ Cup World Championships
Breeders’ Cup Ltd. reached an agreement with Horse Racing Radio Network to be the exclusive national radio network for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park on October 24-25.
The Lexington-based radio network will provide nine hours of live coverage during the two-day event, broadcasting from 3:30-6:30 p.m. EST on Friday and from 1-7 p.m. on Saturday. HRRN co-founders Mike Penna and Pete Kules will co-host the broadcast with analyst Jude Feld.
The agreement marks the second year that HRRN will broadcast the Breeders’ Cup. HRRN provided coverage of the 2007 edition at Monmouth Park.
“HRRN has demonstrated success in getting the Breeders’ Cup carried on affiliate stations across the country and providing insightful, thorough coverage of our event,” said Peter Land, chief marketing officer for Breeders’ Cup. “We want to make sure that fans can access the Breeders’ Cup in a variety of ways and HRRN’s ability to clear signals and provide an informative and entertaining broadcast for all 14 races this year will help accomplish that goal.”
Founded in 2004, HRRN regularly broadcasts major stakes races from tracks across the country, including this year’s Preakness Stakes (G1), which was carried on 45 affiliates in 22 states.
