Hancock resigns from Churchill Downs Inc. board

Seth W. Hancock has resigned from Churchill Down Inc.’s board of directors, effective immediately.

Hancock was first elected to the board in 1973. During his tenure, Churchill Downs Inc. grew from owning one racetrack to a company that owns and operates racetracks in four states, owns various off-track betting facilities, and has financial interests in a variety of advance-deposit-wagering, television-production, telecommunications, and racing-service companies.

“For the past 30-plus years, I have enjoyed being a part of one of Thoroughbred racing’s premier racing companies,” Hancock said. “But after more than three decades of service, it’s time for me to move on and enhance new challenges. I took forward to CDI’s continued innovation and success for the benefit of our entire industry.”

Hancock and his family own Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky.

“Seth Hancock has served the board with great distinction for many years, and his leadership will be missed,” said Carl F. Pollard, board chairman for Churchill Downs Inc. “We have relied on his counsel and wisdom on a great many issues related to our company and the industry as a whole. Personally, I wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
