Actress Derek, TV producer Israel appointed to CHRB


Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday appointed actress Bo Derek and television writer and producer David Israel to seats on the California Horse Racing Board.

Both positions require confirmation by the California Senate.

Derek, 51, of Santa Ynez, has been an actress since 1974. A longtime racing fan and avid horsewoman, she has served as spokeswoman for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act since 2003.
 
David Israel, 57, of Los Angeles, has been a writer and television producer since 1973. He was syndicated sports columnist from 1975 to ‘81, and wrote on the Triple Crown triumphs of Seattle Slew in 1977 and Affirmed in ‘78.
