NetJets adds bonus to King’s Bishop Stakes

The winning owner of the $250,000 NetJets King’s Bishop Stakes (G1) on August 23 at Saratoga Race Course will receive a bonus of $50,000 in air travel with private airline company NetJets.

The seven-furlong King’s Bishop is one of three graded stakes races contested on the undercard of the Travers Stakes Presented by Shadwell Farm (G1) on August 23.

Since its inaugural running in 1984, the race has been won by 2007 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic Powered by Dodge (G1) runner-up Hard Spun and champion sprinters Housebuster, Squirtle Squirt, and Lost in the Fog among other notable horses.

“Some of the finest three-year-old sprinters have starred in the NetJets King’s Bishop …,” New York Racing Association President Charles Hayward said. “The sponsorship of NetJets strengthens what annually is one of the strongest stakes run at Saratoga.”

NetJets has been an active sponsor of Thoroughbred racing for several years, sponsoring all 20 jockeys in this year’s Kentucky Derby. The company also sponsored the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) from 2002-‘07.

“The Grade 1 NetJets King’s Bishop stakes is the top three-year-old sprint race on the New York Racing Association calendar,” NetJets Chairman Richard Santulli said. “It will attract some of the finest horses in the world, and we are proud to sponsor the event and honor the winning owner.”
