Sadler, Cerin face medication complaints in California

The California Horse Racing Board has filed complaints against trainers John Sadler and Vladimir Cerin for medication violations.
 
The board cited Sadler for positive tests of hydroxyzine and its metabolite, cetirizine, found in the post-race urine of Cat and a Half after a victory in the first race on November 11 at Hollywood Park. A hearing has not been scheduled for the Class III violation.

Cerin faces two complaints because two horses in his care tested positive for norpseudoephredrine and phenylpropanolamine.

The substances were found in Off the Richter after a third-place finish on September 10 in the fifth race at Fairplex Park and in North Fleet Street after a victory in the 12th race on September 25 at Fairplex. Hearings have not been scheduled for the Class III violations.
 
A board statement said norpseudoephredrine and phenylpropanolamine can be found in urine samples after the ingestion of herbal products containing ephedra and in several over-the-counter products for both horse and human respiratory conditions.
