TCA receives large donation from Woodford Reserve

Thoroughbred Charities of America, which distributes grants to non-profit organizations involved in a variety of horse-related fields, has received a $116,337 donation from Kentucky bourbon producer Woodford Reserve.

Woodford Reserve raised the funds through an on-line auction of 132 gold plated mint julep cups that were offered in the days leading up to the 2007 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1). Three areas of focus were earmarked for the funds, including the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund, and the New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania, which is involved in laminitis research.
