Finish lines: Notes from around the Thoroughbred world

--The HBO hit series "The Sopranos" will focus on a racing theme in Sunday's episode, including footage shot at Aqueduct and Monmouth Park. The episode is titled "Pie-O-My," and includes a guest appearance from jockey Aaron Gryder. "This week the sport of kings becomes the sport of wise guys," reads the Sopranos page on HBO.com. "When Ralph buys a racehorse, Tony discovers he has a knack for picking the ponies." The episode will air on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

--Jerry Charley's durable campaigner Mr. Memphis finished sixth in the sixth race at Hoosier Park on Thursday in his 109th career start. Mr. Memphis, a 13-year-old son of L'Enjoleur, moved up along the inside after racing last in the field of ten under Rafael Bejarano, but never threatened. Mr. Memphis was bred in New York by Dr. John Griggs, and is out of the stakes-winning Accipiter mare Accipiter's Song. He is a half brother to stakes winner Allsing, and stakes-placed winners Shakabuku and Naskra's Song. He has 11 wins, 17 seconds, and 17 thirds in ten seasons. The $75 he earned in his latest effort, improving his earnings $145,608.
