Bay Meadows will reward fans with Seabiscuit bobbleheads
Bay Meadows Race Course will jump into the bobblehead craze this weekend when it distributes 8,500 Seabiscuit bobblehead dolls to fans attending Saturday's racing program.
Bobblehead dolls have been an extremely popular promotion at racetracks recently, but the Seabiscuit bobblehead marks the first time a track has given away a horse as a bobblehead. The Secretariat.com Web site offered 1,000 Secretariat bobbleheads earlier this year, and those promptly sold out.
The Seabiscuit bobblehead already has collection value, as the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, New York, has requested two dolls and eBay is abuzz with the doll's release. On Tuesday, 24 bids had been placed on the Seabiscuit bobblehead, including one for $44.
Seabiscuit was the focus of Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling equine biography Seabiscuit: An American Legend, which is being made into a movie starring Tobey Maguire.
