Van Clief to speak on global alliances at federation meeting

D. G. Van Clief Jr., Breeders' Cup Ltd. president and National Thoroughbred Racing Association vice chairman, will speak to the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities on global marketing alliances on October 7 in Paris.

Van Clief will address the NTRA's alliance with Ascot and Longchamp racecourses as well as other issues regarding the globalization of racing, said NTRA spokesperson Peggy Hendershot.

A member of the 12-person federation executive council, Van Clief will join Jockey Club President Hans Stahl at the Paris meeting.

Stahl, also a member of the executive council, has been working with other key federation leaders on reshaping the organization into a global directorate that would develop an Internet strategy for wagering as well as other commercial priorities.—Michele MacDonald
